Q. Why do my previous username and password not work?

A. As of July 1, 2014, all applicants must create a new username and password.

  • On the Westar Energy careers homepage, select "View and apply for jobs."
  • On the recruiting homepage, select "Sign in," or "Candidate Profile."    
  • Select "New User" and complete the New User Registration process. 
  • Finish creating your candidate profile by progressing through the steps as outlined in the application process.
Q. What is the process of applying for a job?

A. All individuals must apply online to be considered for a position. 

  • To apply, select the "Apply" link for a specific job posting or select "Sign In" at the top of the page to create a candidate profile. 
  • If you have not applied for a position since June 30, 2014, you will need to create a new applicant profile. 
Q. What should I expect after completing the online application?

A. You will receive email confirmation upon completing your candidate profile and application for a specific position. 

  • Your application and qualifications will be reviewed by Westar's Talent Acquisition Team and hiring manager to determine the next steps in the process. 
  • If you have not received notification about the status of your application within four weeks from the posting close date, email Jobs@WestarEnergy.com
  • Regardless of the status of your application for a specific position, your candidate profile will be stored in the recruiting system. You may potentially receive notifications for positions that match your background based on what you have provided in your profile. 
Q. Do I have to attach a copy of my resume?

A. Yes. Attaching a resume is strongly recommended. 

  • It is strongly recommended that you attach a resume when applying for a position. A resume is a great way to tell your employment story and is used in the selection review process. 
  • If you would like to include a formatted copy of your resume, remove all graphics, images and distinct fonts before attaching the file. This will decrease the size of your resume attachment to allow for easier uploading. 
Q. How do I attach an updated resume?

A. You will need to sign in to your candidate profile to update or attach a new resume.

  • On the Westar Energy careers homepage, select "View and apply for jobs."
  • On the recruiting homepage, select "Sign in."
  • Select "My Profile" to update your resume with a new attachment.
  • Select "Save and Continue." You should receive a message that you have successfully updated your personal information.
Q. How do I save an application page?

A. Information entered in your online application is saved when you move to the next page by selecting the "Save and Continue," button. 

  • If a required field is not complete, you will be prompted to complete the field before you are able to "Save and Continue" to the next step.  
Q. How do I save an application that I started and wish to finish later?

A. You can leave the application and then return to finish at a later date (as long as you finish the application process while a specific job is still open). 

  • While you are working on your application, select "Save as Draft" to leave the application. You will be advised your submission process is not complete. Select "OK."
  • To complete your application process, go to "My Jobpage," and select "Finish Draft Submission." Complete the process. 
  • You must complete the application process for the job while job is still open for applications. If you are not able to complete the process and the job is closed, you will no longer be able to apply for the position. 
Q. How do I know if I completed my application?

A. You should receive an email confirmation after you complete the application process. To review or confirm your application: 

  • Go to the Westar Energy Careers homepage. 
  • Select the "View and apply for jobs" link. 
  • Sign in to your candidate profile by selecting "Sign In."
  • Go to "My jobpage."
  • Select "View email message" under the job you applied for. 
  • You will be able to see the email confirmation of your application. 
Q. How do I update or change my personal information?

A. To update or change your personal information:

  • Go to the Westar Energy Careers homepage. 
  • Select the "View and apply for jobs" link. 
  • Sign in to your candidate profile by selecting "Sign In."
  • Go through your candidate profile to update the appropriate information.
  • Use the top navigation sections to go back and forth between sections. 
  • Select "Save and Continue" after making updates to your profile. 
Q. What do I do if I forget my username or password?

A. When you are on the application website, select "Sign In," and you will have the option to assist in recovering your username or password. 

  • Select "Forgot your username?" to recover your username. 
  • Select "Forgot your password?" to recover your password. You will be prompted to answer security questions to recover your password. 
Q. The system says my email address already exists. What should I do?

A. You may already have a profile in the system. 

  • First, try to recover your username using the "Forgot your username?" link.
  • If you are unable to sign in by obtaining your username, email Jobs@WestarEnergy.com
Q. Can I submit an application by email or mail?

A. All applicants must apply online for consideration. 

Q. Can I create a profile and submit a resume without applying for a job?

A. Yes. You can create a profile and submit a resume without applying for a job. You can also set up job alerts based on your search preferences. 

  • If you haven't already registered as a new user, first create a candidate profile.
  • On the right-hand column, under "Candidate Profile," select "Access my profile."
  • Upload a current resume and complete the rest of the application. 
  • Under preferences, select job fields and location you're interested in receiving notifications about. 
  • Westar will send an email notification when we post a job that matches your preferred criteria.
